In this journey we call life, we are all protagonists. Yet, we often find ourselves relegated to the sidelines, watching as life unfolds rather than actively participating in the narrative. This is a universal truth - we make room in our lives for what we truly desire. Whether it’s a conscious decision or a subconscious drive, our actions and choices reflect our deepest desires. Sometimes I wonder why we neglect what’s important to ourselves. Like we prioritize certain things over others.

There's a saying that has resonated with me lately - "People make time for what they want." It's a simple statement, yet it holds profound implications about our priorities, our relationships, and our future goals. In my own life, I've found this to be unequivocally true. I've seen friendships that were once as deep as the ocean become as shallow as a puddle, not because of any disagreement or misunderstanding, but simply because we stopped making time for each other. Conversely, I've also seen relationships blossom and thrive simply because both parties were willing to invest their time and energy into them.

When it comes to future goals, this phrase takes on a whole new meaning. We all have dreams and aspirations, but how many of us actively carve out time to work towards them? It's easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of everyday life and lose sight of our larger goals. It’s happened to me a few times. I know I want something really bad but I am the worst procrastinator. But the truth is, if we truly want something, we need to make time for it.

This principle has guided me in my journey. Whether it's pursuing a passion project, maintaining relationships, or working toward my future goals, I've realized that it's not about having time, it's about making time. Because at the end of the day, we make time for what truly matters to us. And that is a powerful realization that can drastically alter the course of our lives. This realization has been transformative for me. I have started to see time not as a relentless enemy, but as a precious resource. I've begun to understand that every minute I spend is an investment, a testament to what I truly value. Though, I understand, it's often simpler to articulate than to actualize. It's taken me a considerable amount of time to truly recognize and accept that I needed to shift certain aspects of my life to make room for what I truly desired. I was once completely absorbed in my digital world, oblivious to my surroundings and the people around me. This started to embarrass me, as I didn't want to conform to the stereotype of my generation being perpetually glued to our screens. Not to mention, my screen time was skyrocketing by the hour. So, I made a conscious decision to put my phone down and immerse myself in the present moment. This has allowed me to spend more quality time with my family and truly appreciate the world around me. I've also made an effort to engage in activities that my loved ones enjoy, which has not only brought us closer but also broadened my horizons. I've always found it relatively easy to make time for the people I care about. The real challenge was being fully present when I was with them. However, one area where I still struggle is making time for my future goals and career aspirations. Despite being a chronic procrastinator, I'm committed to carving out more time to study and prepare for my future career. I constantly remind myself of the rewards that await me - a fulfilling career, financial stability, and the satisfaction of achieving my goals. Yes, the journey may be tough, but I'm determined to keep pushing forward.

The phrase "people make time for what they want" is not just a collection of words but a compass guiding us toward self-realization and personal growth. It’s a reflection of our values, our priorities, and ultimately, the life we choose to lead. It is an invitation to introspect, to evaluate our relationships, our goals, and our daily routines, and to make conscious choices that reflect our true desires and values. Moreover, it is a call to action - a challenge to step out of the commotion, to pause, and to ask ourselves: "What do I truly want? And am I making time for it?" These questions, though simple, hold the potential to ignite a transformation, to shift our perspective from being passive recipients of life to becoming active directors of our narrative. This has led me to reassess my relationships, my goals, and my daily routines. I've also started asking myself, "Is this worth my time?" And if the answer is no, I've learned to let go, to move on, to redirect my time towards something that truly matters to me. Because every 'no' is essentially a 'yes' to something else - something that I truly want, something that is worth my time.

Remember, time is a non-renewable resource, and every minute that passes is a minute that we will never get back. So, let's make it count. Let's make time for what we truly want, for what brings us joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. Because, at the end of the day, we are the authors of our own lives, and it's about time we started writing a story that we love.

So, as we part ways today, I leave you with this thought: Time is the canvas, and you are the artist. What will you create?

Love always,

M.R.
